Sex and the City: God I love this place

On Thursday when I went into work, Betsy was still sick and Lea wasn't coming in until 1 so I was pretty much on my own! It was stressful but exciting. The reps had me checking in/out a TON of samples, answering phones, running the sample sale, taking pics of samples..needless to say pretty hectic so I was thankful when Lea came in and was able to help. We were doing all of that for the whole day pretty much with a few odds and ins thrown in. It was very exciting to be kinda just thrown in and figure out how to do everything on our own, great learning experience! After work, Lea and I ran uptown to see Sex and the City 2! This movie + in NYC= perfect! And even more thrilling...a ton of the theaters were sold out so we had to get one way up town..little did I know that when we came up from the subway we were right in front of Julliard and Lincoln Center!! I freaked! Growing up dancing and hearing about Julliard and the American Ballet and NY Ballet Companies performing at Lincoln Center and finally seeing it! It was BEAUTIFUL! But we were running late for the movie and it was opening day so we ran in and shockingly (I guess since it was just us two) we got seat right in the middle towards the front!
Sooo the movie! It didn't get great reviews but that's b/c critics don't do girl movies I decided. and the fashion....UNBELIEVABLE!!!! and SJP is a major person with Halston now so she was reppin it so good and she looked gorgeous! They wore so many gowns; every outfit was a show stopper.
Today, we closed at 2 so I worked on some stuff for them on the comp that pretty much took the whole time. Then I got out at 1:30 and decided to go exploring! Betsy told me I should go down to Greenwich Village. So I took the subway down there...the subway is kinda confusing. So I got off one stop wrong but I just decided to walk up. I got out at 14th Street Union Sq which has Filenes Basement, DSW, Nordstrom Rack...basically a bunch of amazing discounted dept stores but I wasn't really in the mood to shop...aka I have no money haha. But I walked all the way up and literally wandered around Greenwich Village for 3 hours and loved it! It's so quaint and beautiful! I now know where I will be living when I move to the city later in life...

Memorial Day coming up and a ton of beaching and boating will be in the future :)

Fashion in NYC is like coming home after being gone for 19 years

Finally have a free moment and not too exhausted to fill you in on my first days of interning!

Day 1
My first day interning was awesome and hectic! I wore some black heels with peep toe, chunky heel and side cutouts :), dark skinny jeans, white print silk tank, and black blazer (very new york) haha but anyways I did a gillion things my first day. I did what's called sample trafficking which is where you check in and fill out forms for when the Joes samples go in and out to department store mostly and I also took some pictures of a bunch of the men's line to send to one of the girl's clients and other odds and end of organizing.

I was really excited when they had me deliver a sample to Macy's! However, Macy's has a million entrances and they put the wrong one on the bag so I went to the wrong area and the guy asked me for my id (didn't have my purse) soooo I had to walk back to work to get that butttt on the way back I passed Peter Som! If you don't know him, he's an up and coming designer and I love his stuff a lot! Look him up! But anyways once I got back to the right entrance while I was waiting for the girl to come pick up the sample the fire alarm went off! I was like what else can happen right now! But thankfully I got out before anymore hysteria occurred. Soooo in the end great day! All of the girls there are really nice and the head women are fabulous!

Day 2
Tuesday was a lot more low key. I did a bunch of filing and going thru a TON of the files of all the clients purchases, etc. and I also met one of the interns I'll be working with Mimie! She's super nice and we really get along! After lunch we did some research on the trends for fall that will best apply to the Joes line and then went thru the newest parts of the line and pulled pieces that worked with the trend (i.e. military pants: the skinny military pant in olive). We merged what we both found. Betsy (the main girl we work with) told us that once one of the Heads gets back from CA we can present what we found and see what she wants to highlight and then start working on photoshop to create a newsblast/ad to send the clients! Very excited to see how this pans out! Soooo exhausted yesterday! I'm definitely going to have to get used to early mornings!

Day 3
f
When I got into work today, Betsy was really sick and had to go home so Lea (another Joes intern) and I were to hold down the fort and just help the sales reps if they needed anything. Without her there we felt so useless b/c the girls didn't have much for us to do. Though thank god Lea was there b/c I would've been bored out of my mind. But thankfully one of the upper girls came in later and had a bunch of random stuff for us to do so a bit of action! Also right now were having a Sample Sale so we have a bunch of people coming in to buy stuff which is always really fun to help them find the right fit and style, etc. Two hilarious women came in today who I'm pretty sure were from the Upper East side..gossip girl anyone. But I did buy a really cute top from the Torn line from the sample sales and I got Jess one as a thank you for coming with me! She left today :( kinda sad to see the empty room coming home.

That's hopefully all! Sorry for the lengthy blog attack! Hope you enjoy! As the titles states...Fashion in NYC is like coming home after being gone for 19 years!

Spotted: E and J at Grand Central

Hello! Today Jess and I trekked into the City! I rocked some boyfriend jeans, white racerback and this cool bandeau I got at Forever before I left and some essential accessories :) We took the 10:10 train and once we got there we walked to Hotline from Penn Station. It was a really easy walk which is really good for my daily commute! Once we got there, the entrance was closed but there was a really nice entrance and we saw the logos of the brands they rep on the second floor so it was really exciting!

Then we went to Macys because it's right by Penn Station. Needless to say we were there for about an hour and half and didn't buy a thing...but the clothes were so gorgeous. I seriously could've bought every item in the BCBGeneration section! Then we went to H&M and stood in line for the dressing room way to long to come out with nothing..total bust. And then..the savior of all fashion needs with the greatest prices...Forever 21. The two-story-epic one. I was loving it allllllll. But Jess reminded me that we're not really sure what I'll be wearing to work everyday so I can't be buying a ton of randomness. Sooo I came out with a really cute blue print t with buttoned back, structured cool-print tank, and this awesome tribal romper. God I love rompers.

Then I actually have never been to Grand Central Station so we took the subway up to there and the moment I walked in Jess turned to me and said "Spotted. E at Central Station" haha seriously though I felt like I was in Gossip Girl. Side note: Epic Gossip Finale this week. It was sooo gorgeous and after that we just came back on the train :) But anyways great quick little jaunt into the city. Not doing too much tomorrow but I'll try and add some pics from today!

5.21

Hello friends! So excited to be starting this blog to keep you updated on my happenings in NY! So here goes...I drove up with my sister on Wednesday (11.5 hours and no problems!) I'm living with my grandma on Long Island for the summer. Yesterday and today we've just been getting settled here, moving my million pounds of clothes into the extremely small space left in my g-ma's house and of course, beaching! Long Island has awesome beaches most would be surprised to hear! However, today, total shocker...a lady, probably in her late 50s early 60s. Topless. On the beach. With a nipple ring. Sick. Other than that it was wonderful though haha.

My internship is with Hotline Showroom in the City and I start on Monday! Super excited! I was actually supposed to meet with the Joe's Jeans rep tomorrow at Bloomingdales but she won't be able to now so that kinda fell thru..bummer. But still so ready to start on Monday! My sis and I are still going into the city tom, taking the train, which takes about an hour, and getting all the timing down for how the trip takes and to walk from Penn Station to work, etc. and of course some shopping after we get it all down pat :) I'll fill you in on any epic stories from the trip into the city!
