Fun Fact: Soho is Short for South of Houston St.

Hola! Boy has it gotten hot up here! Thank god my cousin came and put my grandmas window air conditioner in my room because I prolly couldve died lasr night without it! Anyways, last week was a pretty good week at work. I worked a lot on the computer helping the reps with excel spreadheets and making a few of my own on certain styles with descriptions pictures and other info. I was also able to sit in on a few big appointments with lord and Taylor and bloomies too!On Friday I met up with my friend from hs Jonathon who goes to Parsons for fashion design (so jealous!) We met up after work around 5 and I was a complete idiot and forgot to bring sandals to change into and was wearing 4 inch heels for the rest of the night... But that aside we walked from 8th to 5th ave and then walked up 5th past all the beautiful shops making a quick pit stop in Louis vuitton, so beautiful. (side note: when we were looking at the trunks upstairs there was some high roller reclined back in his chair with his feet on the table looking at lv trunks for who knows how much! I was thinking even if I was dishing out that kind of money I wouldn't be putting my feet on the table!) We walked up to central park and walked thru 'the mall' which has been shot in a ton of movies and it is so breathtaking! The trees looked fake and all I could say was this is not real life!

After walking thru CP and being pulled in to volunteer in some street performers show..we figured we weren't going to find anywhere we could eat cheap on the upper east side...gossip girl anyone. So we took the subway down to soho, fav new area as you can tell, and went to one of Jonathons fav restaurants called Bread. The ambience was soooo cool and we had delish tomato soup and bruschetta. Then we were right by little Italy and Jon was craving some gelato so we walked thru the main street which was all lit up and lined with a million restaurants! We were directed to the place with the best gelato and when we walked in I almost fell over. It was purely a Italian dessert restaurant and the items they had were like a picture! I wanted it all! We had the most amazing gelato there of course and then it was too late to take the train so I crashed with him at his friends apartment which had the most unbelievable views!

Beaching and boating of course rounded out the weekend :) So excited about tonight...Premier of Eclipse!!! Team Edward all the way! Tomorrows gonna be a rough morning at work with an estimated 4 hours of sleep but it's totally worth it!

The Unheard Beauties of NYC

So sorry it's been awhile! Nothing epic happened last weekend, just the usual! Although, on Sunday, my uncle was in a fishing tournament and for dinner we cooked up fish that he had caught that morning! Nothing like fresh fish! This week has been pretty slow at work. Got to sit in on a few meetings with buyers which was cool and a definitely learning experience. One of them was with Saks and me and Mimie did a coffee run for them (felt like I was in a movie or something!) idk why but I really enjoy doing little things like that!
My mom drove up on Thursday and we've had the greatest past two days! Yesterday, I got off work at one and mom came up to the office to see everything and actually bought a pair of Joes from the sample sale! I was so proud! Then we went over to Chelsea which is on the West Side and went to this place called the Chelsea market which is like a huge warehouse that has a cobblestone walkway inside and is filled with amazing bakeries, eateries, crafts, and shops, Anthropologie, too! It was so cool and the architecture and decor inside was so unique!
Then in that same are we went to this area called the highline, which was an old elevated train line that was turned in this gorgeous little park and it runs for a good 15 blocks, all elevated, and with GORGEOUS views of the West Shore!
Then we walked all around the Meatpacking district which is where a ton of designers' store are! Stella McCartney is definitely my favorite store there. Again, the architecture and decor in that store is unreal. We took the subway over to Greenwich Village just for a bit and walked down to the Soho area. Went into some really cool boutiques and found this awesome restaurant that Betsy at work had recommended. The food (and presentation) was unbelievable! The restaurant was very modern and open and we got a little table outside that was right next to the side walk (kinda like a little place in paris) :) We walked around that area and saw some really great street vendors.
Thennn, we took the subway up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art b/c they were having an exhibition on "Fashioning the American Woman." It was all about how fashion changed with the American woman's personality from the mid 1800s to the 1920s. It featured all original pieces from each era and explained a ton of background. So cool! By that point it was 9 pm and we had literally been walking all day! But we caught a bus to take us back down to 34th b/c we were at 82nd! But once we got to 58th, it was so beautiful we decided to get off and walk down the famous 5th Ave b/c the weather and sights were perfect. So we walked 24 blocks! back to the train!

It was so great being able to see the areas of New York that most don't know about! So many people think of NYC as being so dirty, and don't get me wrong some of the areas around Penn Station aren't the prettiest, but most of the areas and especially the places we went Friday were so gorgeous. After every place we went, we were like 'That place was so great!' Today, we had A PERFECT DAY AT THE BEACH :) Sorry for the long post haha! hope you enjoy!

Food, Ballerinas, and Craziness at Work

Sooo so much has happened since my last post! Well maybe not that much but it seems like a ton!! This past weekend I did some amazing beaching and EATING! omg Saturday night I went to my aunt's neighbor's brother's italian restaurant! what i mouthful (no pun intended) but he's originally from Sicily so the food was out of this world! baked clams for appetizer, whole wheat penne with shrimp and artichokes in a vodka sauce, and he was hilariously calling me Tennessee and he was like "Tennessee you ever had a real good canoli before?" so naturally he brought me one but totally had to share b/c i was so full! and then Sunday some of my uncle's fam came over for a cookout!

Thennn! Monday after work which was a normal busy day (and I asked betsy if i could get out early) I went to a delish dinner with my aunt and then we went to the Met to see the American Ballet Theater perform Lady of the Camellias! It was UNBELIEVABLE! Their lines, grace, movement, everything was truly spectacular! (not to mention I could see the main ballerina's collarbone from the back of the theater; she was so skinny!) but anyways it was unreal and I'll have to steal my aunt's camera to post the pics though we couldn't take any inside. Got home at midnight that night so long day!

Thennn! On Tuesday, I had a normal day I think...very busy of course! I honestly can't remember exactly what I did (I'm so exhausted at the moment!) On Wenesday there were a gillion appointments at work and two of the reps were preparing to leave for Atlanta Market so we had to pack up literally like over half the showroom in 11 massive boxes and get everything organized! Such a busy day that literally went from 90 to 0 once 5 o'clock came around b/c the reps had left and the boxes were gone and no appointment baha so I got out early! Today was a lot more quiet thankfully but I was kept busy all day of course.

Just finished watching the first episode of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD from here on out) and it was amazing! So glad Mia Michaels is back; she is definitely my fav and I've had the honor of taking two classes from her! Also just a side not I've been reading a ton on the train to and from the city and I've read Do You Think I'm Beautiful?, The Help, and I'm currently about half way thru Eclipse (gotta refresh my memory before June 30th..speaking of I need to get my ticket for the midnight showing....) Anyways they were all amazing so check them out! I guess that's all...well that was a ton! but I'm sooooo exhausted so peace out girl scout!

Sunny Days

Memorial Day Weekend was so beautiful and relaxing! My cousin Kristen came into town and we went out on the boat with my aunt and uncle for a huge air show they have at Jones Beach! It was gorgeous out and the show was awesome!
This week at work I've done a great mix of things! Tuesday I did a bunch of stuff around the office and actually made a trip to Bloomingdales on 59th with Jamie, one of the retail coordinators. That Bloomingdales= UNBELIEVABLE. It was like 8 floors and had soooo many amazing designers. She walked me around and explained all about what she does and I got to meet the Joes Specialist in the Men's denim and he was so cool and the visuals were set up like none other (he apparently has doubled what he should be selling!) and we went to the women's area, the specialist wasn't there, and reorganized and she talked me through all of the fits. She gave me a lot good info and I learned all about Joes fits. Joes has specific fits for a woman's (and man's) body which I didn't know! Things like...the provocateur is a petite fit for girls with shorter legs and the honey is for 'curvier girls' (this does not mean you're fat) aka if you got a donk b/c it has a contour waistband which comes higher in the back so your crack doesn't hang out when you bend down...a plus! Anyways I got done at like 4:30 and walked around for a bit and couldn't even handle how huge that store was and so I decided to come back on an earlier train!

Wednesday I did a lot with the sample sale, tons of reorganizing which I was loving (I'm such an organizational freak) and uploading a bunch of pictures for one of the reps. I also got to create a newsblast that they might potentially send to clients on the Bachelorette. Apparently she was wearing Joes in the first scene of the latest episode so I got to create a little ad sort of thing which was exciting.
Today I actually didn't go into the showroom, and instead, met Jamie in some stores on Long Island. First she did a seminar at a Bloomingdales for the salespeople to learn about the Joes products that they're selling in their store. I got a ton of background info on Joe himself too which was cool and additional info about the jeans themselves. All the work is done in the US and all of the details on the top part of the jean are hand-done and each jean goes through an intense wash process, etc. We went to a Saks, Nordstrom, and another Bloomies to see how everything was going, set up, sales, etc which was fun and she let me go when we were done so i was done at 2!

This week has flown by! Hopefully I'll have some interesting stuff to do tomorrow and finger's crossed for beach weather for the weekend! PS Just found out that I'm going to see the American Ballet Theater perform at the Met on Monday with my Aunt! Freaking out!!!!!!!! Never seen the ballet in NY and I literally stopped the car and was speechless when I found out!
